Miniweb Wins Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit Award For Innovation
PRESS RELEASE – Miniweb today announced that it has been awarded a Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit award in recognition of its innovative Interactive Service Platform. London, UK, November 17th, 2008 – Miniweb, the Interactive Service Provider that is enabling targeted, web-style interactivity and advertising on TV, today announced that it has been awarded a Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit award in recognition of its innovative Interactive Service Platform. The award is judged by readers of Broadcast Engineering magazine’s World Edition and working professionals in the broadcast, post production, network and satellite industries. It recognises new technologies demonstrated at IBC 2008 and is one of the highest accolades available to companies in the digital television marketplace.
The Miniweb Interactive Service Platform was awarded a Pick Hit award as it allows broadcasters, network operators, content owners and advertisers to easily and cost effectively deliver new services and business models. Miniweb enables the creation and delivery of interactive, converged broadcast and broadband entertainment by uniquely monetising all viewers’ see, search and spend actions. The company’s platform is already enabling web-style interactivity on the TV, with over 9 million BSkyB viewers having access to Miniweb powered TV Sites.
“We are proud that the Miniweb Interactive Service Platform has been recognised for its innovation and especially pleased that the judges were the industry at large, including Broadcast Engineering’s World Edition readers,” comments Andrew Carver, CEO of Miniweb. “This is the latest in a number of award wins and nominations for Miniweb demonstrating industry support for our vision and interactive TV solutions.”
The Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit awards are the industry’s longest-running new product technology awards, celebrating their 24th anniversary. Products are only eligible if they have some positive impact on the intended user’s everyday work, offer substantial improvement over previous technology, and their price is within the reach of the intended users.
Earlier this year Miniweb was named a Red Herring Europe 100 winner after being recognised as one of the most promising private companies driving the future of TV and video services. In September, Miniweb announced a significant funding round led by Meritage Funds and secured access to US$32 million of venture capital investment.
