More than 40 Countries across Europe will have access to advanced Connected TV Functionality

London, 7 January 2011 - Miniweb, the leading provider of cloud-based connected TV services, and Vestel, a leader in the global consumer electronics industry, announced today at CES 2011, a partnership to bring a variety of new content sources to TV audiences across Europe. The offering is based on “woomi”, Miniweb’s  global connected TV services platform, and Vestel’s range of connected TV devices.

By partnering with woomi, Vestel customers in more than 40 countries in Europe will be able to utilize advanced functionality and features such as global search and content discovery, recommendations, related content, community, micropayments and personalization.

woomi gives viewers access to online video content from multiple content partners within one application. It is fully customisable and enables content providers and device manufacturers to benefit from new revenue streams generated by micropayments and advertising. woomi allows device manufacturers to offer a compelling, connected online video experience to their customers and gives content partners a global distribution and monetisation platform for their content across the largest footprint of connected TV devices.

“The successful cooperation with Vestel enables us to deliver engaging content experiences to a growing audience across Europe,” said Jerome de Vitry, Miniweb CEO.  “As viewers’ demands shift from the ‘walled garden model’ towards gaining access to a variety of available content sources, partnering with a leading provider such as Vestel places both companies in a strong growth position in the TV market.”

“Having supplied 1 out of each 5 TVs sold in Europe, our goal is to make sure that each TV we ship out will be connected pretty soon” said Hakan Kutlu, Vestel Deputy Director. “Although connected TV is not very new technology wise, it is rather new for the mass market, and manufacturers have a mission to get the consumers onboard as soon as possible. Keeping this in mind, we believe that it is our responsibility to provide consumers with easy access to the contents that they are looking for. Partnering with woomi will help us a lot in this sense and will definitely boost up the content variety offered on our products.”
