Using the ONLINE emulator

Hi,

Just a warning that it you use the ONLINE emulator you run the risk of developing your site out of the TV safe area. The coordinates of the safe area are 63,47,655,527.

If you were to download the PC based emulator you can turn the option "Display Safe Area" in the view option.

Sky have posted a lot of information on the new TV Internet portal over the last few months, and many people have called in simply asking where to start.

The path people are taking to get a site live differs based on your technical ability and background, but here's a summary of the common steps in a logical order.

Image positioning

I have a jpg image which is 608x240 but no matter how hard I try and I cannot get it to sit exactly where I want it positioned on the screen. If I change the x1 position by say 6 pixels in the RECT parameter it doesnt seem to move but if I change it by say 20 pixels it does more. I am not sure what I am doing wrong?

I am currently starting an Internet radio station for our college students and we were hoping to put some things on a Sky Interactive site, such as news and information, as some of the centres have digital TVs. Is it possible to use Flash and video on the sites and how can they be used?

MIME Types

I am using Apache on my web serve and already have a WAP site and wml MIME types for WAP do I need to set up an additional set of MIME types for wtv?

When I configure any of the test files on my server when I use the emulator it says the files are HTML and that it isn't supported.

I'm running IIS6 at the moment, and have created a new wtv.

Problem using eportal

Hi,

I managed to install the example sample_left on my web server and run it using the emulator (running locally, not the activex).

Everything works as it should on the emulator, but whenever I try to enter the same URL in the eportal application running on a Sky set-top box, I get kicked at the PIN step.
I do enter the correct PIN as it is defined in the site details of SiteControl, but it does not seem to be recognised and after 3 attempts I am banned for 10 minutes.

What is wrong?

Could it be because I use an IP address (I have not registered a DNS yet), or something to do wit

TV Key

Tried to register a TV Key and was told it had been rejected with no explanation. If you don't explain why it was rejected how do we know what is allowed?

Is there a rule for TV Keys? Can anyone help? I want to register a sky key but am reluctant if it takes so long just to be turned down. Especially as we are paying for a TV Key and its not cheap!!
